sweetie has a sage plant that has been in the ‘slowly dying’ phase for a week or so.  i came home friday night and she had all the leaves pulled off and wrapped up nice and tight.  she grinned at me and said “so, let’s try that smudging thing”.

the quick back story is that our 80 year old wood frame house has some pretty significant repair needs, our neighborhood has gotten a little sketchy with the economic decline, and there have been several break ins in the area.

so we walk around with this smoking bundle, giggling, and semi-seriously asking the universe for our house to be protected, safety, blessings, etc.  just as we finish the last room of the house, the dogs go crazy barking at the front door.

there’s a door to door home alarm salesman there.  coincidence?  we talk for a few minutes and he says he’ll be back in the area on saturday.  saturday morning we get in the car to leave for errands and we start a conversation about the coincidence … and we drive right by the guy.  as we’re coming home, hours later, from a different direction – he’s there again.

so we got a home alarm system.

we only used half the sage.  i think we’re saving the other half for the lottery.
