10-15mph
so much has been happening lately!!
i’ve been riding my bike to work lately. taking the short way, it’s about 3.5 miles each way. i’ve been trying to find alternate routes that increase the distance. i have upped the trip to 6 miles each way and then added little errands on top of things in the evenings to ride further.
so far, 2 people have died in car vs. bike accidents in my county this week. needless to say, i’m being very careful and wearing my helmet any time i’m on the bike – and sticking to the sidewalks and bike paths/paved shoulders for safety.
my muscles are really feeling the increased physical activity – not just my legs from all the pedalling… but my biceps, shoulders, and back muscles are all getting stronger! i pulled my shoulder (anterior deltoid) when i hit the rails on the bridge over the intracoastal, but a little rest & massage and i was fine (and thankfully, so was my bike).
it takes me longer to get to work (and home) but the increased time has been so incredibly wonderful. i have time to think, work out my feelings/thoughts, and ultimately let things go! i get into a meditative state when i get into the groove of riding (tai chi does something similar for me, but on a different level).
and in the “oh my goodness” news of the week – my supervisor’s position was posted last week (he is transferring to another position) and i applied, interviewed, and was chosen for the position!!! i am very excited about this amazing opportunity and think this position will be, not only a huge and interesting challenge, but also a whole lot of fun! i also think all this exercise & meditation is going to pay off for me in how i’m going to handle the additional stress. so, Win Win Win!
my sweetie has been supportive of me and not only encouraged me to apply (and said “Go for it” when it was offered) but we also had a wonderful sun soaked bike ride today along the gorgeous Intracoastal on Palm Beach!
