Caring
today’s practice is on caring.
According to Peter McWilliams, “Nonviolence toward the self is caring for oneself. It is what the Greeks call reverence for the self.” Real caring is not just what we say, but what we do. Make a list of at least five ways that you can take better care of yourself. Practice at least one today.
when i got on the scale this morning, i knew there were a few things i could do to care for myself that i have not been doing lately.
- walk 1-2 miles a day. more if i can manage it, but i need to start with a realistic goal.
- track my weight watcher points daily. i’ve gained 5lbs from my best weight so far.
- meditate daily (i keep saying this is something i should do, but i have yet to stick to it)
- do my best every day and recognize that my best changes from day to day.
- find a better sleep schedule – including waking earlier.

I use Google Calendar a lot. I just had my appointments and hoped-activities listed on the top, so I could quickly scan to see what was coming up for the week, but lately I’ve been assigning tasks to different times of the day. I wouldn’t remember to take my morning pills, but now I am ‘booked’ to take them at a set time.
Would it help you to book these things you want to do?
