my pimped out blackberry, revised
i’ve done some additional tweaking on my blackberry. i’ve gotten rid of some programs that didn’t quite do what i needed them to, and added some new ones i like better. this post is an update to my previous post.
i’ve switched to the new googe mobile app for blackberry that was released yesterday. i’m still feeling it out for usefulness. i like that i have easy and fast access to all the google apps in one location, but i liked that there was a visual/iconic indicator when i had new gmail. the new icon doesn’t change when i have new mail, however, the led indicator does flash.
i’m also trying out tiny twitter for all my twittering needs. i’m slightly more fond of the layout and feel of things than i was of twitterberry. i haven’t uninstalled twitterberry yet, but the icon has been banished to a folder until i decide its permanent fate. i’m also killing two birds with one stone having twitter update my facebook status.
i’m a big to-do list person. i needed something more than the native task list my blackberry offers. i’ve been trying gwhiz’s got-2 application. the niftiest feature is that you can set up locations and assign them to specific tasks. when your gps enabled blackberry says you’re close to that location, you are alerted that you have a task associated with that location. my favorite use is to make a shopping list and tag it with the grocery store’s location … i drive by & BING! don’t forget the soymilk!
i made a separate post last month about weathereye. so far, so good. i like that the icon actually changes with the weather!
so i can post to my website from my blackberry, i am employing the use of BBMetaBlog … a great explanation on how to set it up to work for WordPress is here.
finally, i’m also using skydeck, a great website that helps you keep track of your available minutes and text messages with your cell plan. my favorite part of the site is the ‘inbox’ and ‘address book’. i can see who i call most, who calls me most, and track charges, duration, and other details.
the best thing about all these programs, apps, & services? they’re free.
