LOVING what you do for a LIVING
i love my job. seriously. i love advocating for children. i love fighting for the ‘underdog’ and helping them rise to their potential. i love trying to overcome the odds (and sometimes the system) to help children work through the fact that they are living through their own personal hell. i love finding that permanent family who can step in and help these kids through the healing process.
and i love educating people when they’re interested in becoming foster parents or adoptive parents. i can tell you the horror stories of the system. i can tell you the golden shining star moments of success from the system. i can tell you what touched my heart – the children who have made a difference in my life, not just me in theirs.
i love my job.
and tonight, that love was apparent (apparently) as i spoke at an orientation. a woman who came in to support her brother in his goal to adopt, asked for and filled out an application to inquire about becoming a foster parent. on the spot. with no prior plans to do so.
she might not follow through with it, but something i said tonight made her think about it enough to actually fill out some paperwork to officially inquire.
that made my heart happy.
i love what i do.
