time changes always throw me for a loop. over the years, i’ve come to realize that my normal “wake up” time is around 8am. all other things being equal, with no alarm clock or other consciousness provoking apparatus, i wake up to the amount of light that streams into my window at 8am on most days. this morning, i am up at 6am. it is dark outside. this distresses my system. but i have somewhere to be at 8am, so it is an unfortunate necessity.

some of you may have received an email last night regarding my love and adoration of technology. if so, please respond. if not, then it is likely i just didn’t have your email address handy. my calendar (and all the data therein) went kaput last night. so i have lost precious birth dates, anniversaries, etc, and i would like them back. my brain doesn’t remember dates very well so i rely on my electronic brains to keep track of all that. damn electronic brains. once i get a complete list again, i’m going to print it out and hide the printout somewhere safe so i can find it should my electronic brains fail again (and we know they always do….).

speaking of special dates, today is my 9 year anniversary with sweetie. it has been the most interesting and adventurous ride i’ve ever been on. because of her, i have learned more about myself, grown, and become – in more measurable ways than i can express. she has challenged my beliefs, encouraged and supported me, and grown with me. she’s seen my highs, my lows, and everything imaginable in between. neither of us was looking for the other when we met, but i can say our lives would both be something entirely different had we not met. and since i am pretty damn skippy happy with both of “who we are”, i’m going to say we both got the good end of the stick. i mean really, how can you not love someone you drag to school with you to get their master’s degree, then they kick your butt by having a higher gpa in the end …. then, after you’ve been working in your field for, oh say 7 years, they come into it and in one year, win a national award?! she’s pretty freaking fabulous.

so sweetie, than you for walking this path with me. thank you for growing with me. whatever the universe or life or karma (or whatever) has in store for us, we’ll be side by side to face it.
