i like saturdays.

i got up early and went to the shopping center where i attend tai chi classes. i try to get there an hour before class starts. i put my ipod in and i start walking. my school is on the second floor of the center. we used to be the only business up there but recently, a gym moved in as well. the center circles a main courtyard. i walk the circuit briskly, pumped up by Pink. when i get up to speed, i begin to jog and if i can, run. i am not yet able to keep up speed for very long, but i get a nice sweat going on.

today i got a bonafide side stitch. it was seriously painful. i had no idea what it was, but it slowed me right down.

after i walk and run for a bit, i stretch and then i spend the last few minutes before class meditating.

during class, we start with a warm up – stretching, balance walking, etc. then we do the long version of the hand form as a group. after the hand form, we usually do the sword form together as well. finally, we work on the form we’re learning or are trying to perfect. sometimes we show off a little – our si-jeh (instructor) pointing out our strengths so the other students can learn.

on my way home from class, i always stop by dunkin’ donuts and get sweetie a coffee and sometimes a muffin or breakfast sandwich. after making myself some breakfast and showering, i collapsed happily in my nice cozy bed with puddy. i had a fabulous, luxurious nap. i think i slept for 2 hours. it was delicious. there are few things better in the world than a good saturday nap.

our big outing today was to go grocery shopping. i had read an article the other day about the 100 calorie packs i like so much. trouble is, they’re expensive. i pay almost double for the convenience of a serving size of whatever snack. so tonight, i mixed up some cereals and crackers and pretzels, coated them in a seasoning mix, and baked them. when i calculated it in weight watchers, a half cup serving equals 2 points. which is EXACTLY what my 100 calorie packs equals. yay!

tomorrow, i’ll make some granola bars for quick on the go breakfasts/snacks.
